Architects Foster and Partners proposed flamed Chinese black granite flooring for this prestigious Thames-side apartment block. It was essential that, during construction and completion of the building, the high quality and finish of this flooring was protected and maintained.

The Extensive team of experts attended design meetings with Foster and Partners, to give preliminary advice on the protection and maintenance of the stone under consideration. We tested a range of sample stones with various impregnating sealers and surface coatings, and presented our findings to the architects.

During installation of the flooring, we were contracted to clean and seal the laid floor both before and after grouting.

Subsequently, we advised the developers, Interior Exterior PLC, on protection specifications for the flooring during the remainder of the construction phase.

Finally, we worked with the site managers to outline a suitable maintenance regime, advised upon the purchase of the most suitable cleaning machinery, arranged on-site demonstrations and training and specified the most suitable maintenance products.

The treated stone inside the building looks good and is performing well. We continue to supply maintenance products and advice as required.
