The appearance of the water-jetted and flamed black granite floor in the new Bloomberg building in London’s Finsbury Square was very poor. A combination of surface contamination and staining had been made worse by unsuccessful attempts to treat and seal the floor without thoroughly cleaning it first.

Extensive’s team of experts carried out a comprehensive series of tests to ascertain the best approach for complete restoration of the flooring. We the stripped and cleaned the entire 550 m2 floor area and re-impregnated it with a protective product.

We needed to carry out tests to establish the best surface coating to use which would be in keeping with the rest of the décor of the building.

To do this, we applied different surface coatings to small demonstration areas which were then subjected to normal use for a defined period of time.

Once the desired effect was selected, we then cleaned the whole area and applied the surface coating throughout.

The final result was an attractive floor that matched the client’s expectations. Since completing the project we have advised upon the correct maintenance regime and have supplied the relevant products to the company responsible for routine cleaning.
