The premium quality of these Italian tiles had deteriorated due to the presence of contaminants, including epoxy grout residues, trapped dirt, cement and paint. In addition, some areas had been further damaged by unsuccessful attempts at restoration.
Extensive was initially contacted by Arlington, the facilities management company, and invited to diagnose the cause of the problems and to propose and demonstrate suitable restoration, cleaning and maintenance procedures.
We undertook a thorough investigation of the floors and staircases and carried out tests in unobtrusive areas. In addition, we sourced and brought in specialist products not previously used in the UK, and consulted with technical experts from the manufacturers of both Fila and Lithofin products.
Having completed our tests, we undertook a remedial treatment programme of some 14,000 m2 of tiles over a period of 4 months. We also worked with the facilities managers to establish an appropriate routine maintenance regime.
We achieved the restoration of these beautiful tiles to a standard in keeping with the overall quality of the building.
We continue to supply maintenance products and to provide consultancy support as required. In addition we are assisting McLaren as new areas of tiles are laid and sections of the building are commissioned. |
